Why can I not save my data to the cloud?

There are various reasons why saving data may not work.
  • If the error message says that your save size is within limits, then it is most likely due to a connection or server issue. Try to save again later.
  • If the error message reports the size of your file, this means that it is too big. You may have to delete some editor levels to get your data within the size limits.
  • If the error message says code -5 or -11, try to refresh login under "Account", "More", then "Refresh Login", and try logging in again. Refreshing login does not result in data loss. If refreshing login gives an error, try restoring your password using the Account Manager website.

What should I do when my chests or quests show waiting times that are greater than what they should be?

Simply restart the game to fix the wrong times.

How do I change my account username after registering my account? How do I change my password? How do I change my email?

To change your username and your password, you must use the Account Manager website that can be found under "Manage Account" in the in-game account settings. An alternative way of changing your password is to use the "Forgot Password?" section found on the same website. You will be asked to use the email that you registered your profile with. At this time, you cannot change the email bound to your Geometry Dash account.

What is the difference between green and yellow names?

Users with green names are unregistered users. They cannot comment or upload levels, but they can still play levels. Users with yellow names are registered users; they have access to every online feature.

Can a hacker get someone's password from the servers?

No. The only known password exploits have already been patched, and date back to 2017. Since this patch, it has been impossible for someone to get your password from the Geometry Dash servers as the servers no longer store a usable form of your password. If you suspect that someone knows your password, the easiest thing you can do is change that password on the Account Manager website.

Why can I not see someone's profile or comments?

When you try to load a profile of someone and the message "Something went wrong" appears, it is most likely because you have been blocked by the user. If you cannot view the comments of a user, it is because that person has their comment history disabled.

Why can I not reply to someone's message?

If you cannot reply to a message, it is because the user has messages disabled or have set them to "Friends only". It can also be due to having too many sent messages, and if so, clearing them can fix this.

How do I change my profile's settings?

To change your profile settings, such as comment visibility or who can message you, go to your profile from the main menu, and select the gear icon. From there, you can change how open your account is to the public, and link various social media. For YouTube, you must not paste the whole link to your YouTube account but only the 16 random digits that come after "youtube.com/". If you want to link your Twitch account, do the same. If you want to link your Twitter account, you only need to write your username in the text box.

Why can I not log in?

The game will refuse to let you into an account if you use an incorrect password. If you have forgotten the password, or if you believe someone else changed it, use the Account Manager website to change it. This tool requires you to use the email you used to register your account. If you have forgot it, or no longer have access to it, there is nothing you can do. If you are trying to find an account you can use the same website to be sent an email with your username. Insert your email and the website will send you the username of the account that is bound to it. If you have an issue where you can log in using the website, but not in-game, you must reinstall the game as it could mean there are incorrect files.

Sadly, lost data can not be recovered. Losing data can only be prevented by saving your data to the cloud often.

What does an account error code mean?

Error codes can show when you try to do various actions with your account, and their meaning are as follows:

  • -99: Emails do not match.
  • -13: Already linked to a different Steam account.
  • -12: Account disabled. Read more here.
  • -11: Login failed when trying to load data. Try to refresh login.
  • -10: Already linked to a different account.
  • -9: Username too short. Minimum 3 characters.
  • -8: Password too short. Minimum 6 characters.
  • -7: Passwords do not match.
  • -6: Email is invalid.
  • -5: Password is invalid or it is too weak and must be reset.
  • -4: Username is invalid.
  • -3: Email is already in use.
  • -2: Username is already in use.
  • -1: Something went wrong. Unknown error.

Why can I not register?

The in-game registering is inconsistent, meaning that registering using the Account Manager website is recommended. You must use an email address that has not been used for an account before, and you also need to use an email domain that is whitelisted for registering, preferably "@gmail.com". Note that you cannot change the email address that is bound to your account; if you lose your password you will need your email to reset it. Passwords can only have Latin characters (lower- or uppercase "a" to "z", numbers, hyphens, and underscores).

Why am I not getting the activation email?

Check the spam folder as the activation email may end up there. You can also use the "Resend Activation" option on the Account Manager website. Another reason could be that you may mistyped your email upon registering, and in that case there is nothing you can do but register another account.

Why can I not load my data?

This may mean there is nothing in the cloud to load. It can also mean account credentials being outdated in the save file. You can solve outdated account credentials by refreshing your login under "Account", "More", and then "Refresh Login". If this gives an error, try restoring the account password on the Account Manager website.

Does loading data overwrite my current save?

If you have data before loading, nothing will be overwritten. Loading always merges save files.

Why is a green user holding the username I want to use?

This is a visual error; if an account appears when searching, it means it is registered and should be yellow in color. You cannot claim inactive usernames at this time.

Why can I not open timed chests?

There are typically three causes for this. More often than not, your data has outdated account credentials, which can be solved by refreshing login. If refreshing your login gives an error, use the Account Manager website to restore your password. The second reason involves your IP being banned from the Geometry Dash servers. In this case, you will not be able to do anything else that requires a connection either. The third one involves a bug that you cannot fix. This bug is inherently server-based. You can tell if you have this bug if your timed chests are not able to be opened, but their respective timers have reset and remain locked.

How do I prevent my account from being stolen or hacked?

There are many ways to prevent the stealing of your account. The first step to take is to make sure you have a secure password, as all recent account hacking incidents have been based on the attacking of weak accounts. Passwords should not include common dictionary words or your username and should be unique. Ensure all game modifications you use are created by trusted members of the community, and do not hand out your save data. If you suspect your password or account has been stolen, immediately reset your password on the Account Manager website.

Why am I not getting Demon Keys anymore?

This is a visual glitch. If you do not seem to get any, simply restart the game and take a look at the Treasure Room; you will see your missing keys added to the counter.

Can you administrate my account?

No. The Geometry Dash Moderator team cannot manage your account. It is not possible for these people to recover your lost data or to change your account information.

Why can I not claim a quest reward?

This is a visual error that can be solved by getting more of the required statistic. For example, if the quest says 6 User Coins, you should be rewarded if you get even more User Coins.

How do I transfer data from one device to another?

Use the "Save" option found in settings in the device where you have the data you would like to transfer. On another device, simply log into your account and use "Load" to import your data. You cannot transfer your data from one account to another.

I cannot log into my account as it has been "disabled". What does that mean? What am I banned for? Can it be appealed?

RobTop closes accounts that have committed severe in-game offences. He is the only person who is able to disable accounts. It is not possible to find out the exact reason why this happened, and these bans are final. As such, they are non-disputable and cannot be appealed.
